Two Injured After Merced County Motorcycle Accident
Two motorcycle riders were injured and hospitalized after an accident near Snelling, CA, in Merced County on the afternoon of May 31, 2020. Officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to a report of a motorcycle accident involving two riders around 4:25 p.m. on Merced Falls Road, just east of La Grange Road. Five motorcyclists were riding together in the area when turkeys allegedly crossed Merced Falls Road in front of the lead motorcycle rider. This caused the 66-year-old motorcyclist from Stockton to abruptly apply his brakes. The CHP said a 70-year-old Hayward man who was riding behind the lead motorcyclist was not able to stop in time to avoid a collision. This caused both motorcycle riders to be reportedly ejected and lose consciousness as a result of the crash. The Stockton man suffered minor injuries and allegedly was not taken to the hospital. The Hayward man was transported via air ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. No other vehicles or motorcyclists were involved in the accident, according to the CHP.
Types of Compensation Available in a Motorcycle Accident Injury Case
Injuries from a motorcycle accident are often catastrophic in nature due to a motorcyclist’s lack of physical protection. When a motorcycle rider is involved in a crash, they may be ejected off their bike and strike the pavement. Despite wearing protective gear, their body will absorb a majority of the impact. This may result in serious motorcycle injuries, such as bone fractures, lacerations, spinal cord damage, head trauma, and burn injuries. When dealing with such injuries, the last thing an injured motorcyclist would want to deal with is being stereotyped by insurance companies as reckless or dangerous. This bias is used by claims adjusters to reduce the value of a personal injury claim for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering. If you find yourself in a situation where you are facing bias when trying to recover personal injury damages for your motorcycle accident, you should consider retaining an experienced Merced personal injury lawyer. An attorney who is experienced in handling cases like yours will gather evidence and build a compelling case to ensure that no information is left out and the facts are understood by all parties.
