Officials of the Vallejo Police Department (VPD) stated that a severe vehicle accident took place within the city on Monday, November 12, 2018. The accident reportedly left two individuals with injuries that required hospital care. Reports indicated that the accident occurred in the morning near downtown and involved two passenger vehicles. While the nature of the individuals’ injuries has not been reported, medical officials stated that the injuries were not life-threatening. The causal factors of the accident are currently under investigation by officers of VPD.
Crash Information
Officers stated that the accident occurred at around 9:30 in the morning on Tennessee Street. A 50-year-old woman from Vallejo had been driving south on Sacramento Street in a Black Mercedes Benz SUV. At the same time, a gray-colored Hyundai Sonata, driven by a 29-year-old woman from Vallejo, was traveling west along Tennessee Street. The vehicles collided at the Tennessee Street/Sacramento Street intersection. According to reports, the Sonata quickly spun out and ended up facing east on Tennessee, sustaining significant damage to its front end. The Mercedes rolled over onto its right side, which officers described as “badly smashed,” and collided with a nearby pole.
Officers reported that they did not know how the accident happened. However, a potential accident witness stated that one of the vehicles may have ignored a red light.
Response
Emergency response officials stated that bystanders had been removing one of the women from her vehicle when they arrived at the scene. Both women were discovered with severe injuries and were immediately transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Reports state that the Sonata driver suffered head lacerations, and one of the drivers may have sustained a spinal cord injury.
Recovering From a Crash
Recovering from an injury suffered during an accident can be difficult. Many accident survivors must take particular medications and complete extended, painful therapy to return to their everyday lives. Furthermore, hospital bills, therapy costs, and taking time off work because of an injury can make being a car accident survivor very expensive. These costs often leave people wondering how they can keep paying necessary bills.
However, those hurt in a crash can often recover for these damages by filing a “personal injury claim.” These claims seek to ensure that those injured by negligent parties can pay for necessary expenses such as surgeries, medicine, and ambulance rides. Injured parties can also claim payments for other damages like lost wages, emotional trauma, household services, and more. To learn about what kind of payments may be available, it’s best to contact a Vallejo personal injury lawyer with ample experience handling injury cases.
