Elverta Road Site of Fatal Antelope Accident

Two people died in a single-vehicle crash in Antelope on September 22. The accident occurred on Elverta Road between Northam Drive and Aztec Way before 1:00 in the early morning hours, according to a representative of the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The report by the CHP said that the vehicle with two males aboard was heading down Elverta Way when it left the roadway and hit two trees. The impact caused the car to split into three parts. First responders tried to resuscitate the men, but tragically, they died at the scene due to the impact’s force. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has identified the decedents as 18-year-old Christian William Buck of Elverta and 18-year-old Bradley Patrick Johnson of Antelope. Separate GoFundMe pages have been created on behalf of Mr. Christian Buck and Mr. Bradley Johnson to help their families cover final resting expenses.

Road Closure

Elverta Way was closed for several hours between Northam Drive and Aztec Way near Watt Avenue. The CHP remained on the scene as they investigated the single-vehicle crash and road crews cleaned up the debris.

Losing a Loved One in a Single-Vehicle Crash

Losing a loved one is never easy, but when it happens suddenly, the family is often left in a state of shock and disbelief. For many family members, it seems as if they are in a dream world where nothing is real. Trying to deal with the many tasks that this situation throws at them is difficult. At our firm, we recognize the anguish the family is experiencing and do our best to allow them to grieve as we help them through this difficult period.

How to Help a Grieving Family

Grief is expressed differently, depending on the person. However, the bottom line for most grieving families is that they need the help other family members and friends can provide. Some ways to show your support are:

  • Grieving families need to know that you are there for them. You can do that by calling or visiting them. Take your cues from the family, and let them lead the conversation.
  • Families who lose a loved one may forget to eat or find that they have nothing on hand. Call and ask if you can drop off a precooked meal. Remember to ask if they can’t eat certain things or if anyone is allergic to particular foods.
  • Offer to pick up groceries or prescriptions.
  • Give them a hand around the house by taking out the trash, cleaning, doing yard work, or walking the dog.
  • Offer to go to the funeral parlor to make arrangements for their loved one. This is a difficult chore for most families, and your presence will be appreciated.
  • Don’t forget to stay in touch after the funeral is over. They will need you more than ever.

Reasons for a Single-Vehicle Crash

There are several reasons for a single-vehicle crash:

  • Speeding is a cause of many such accidents since it causes the driver to lose control.
  • Loss of brake function can cause a single-vehicle crash since the driver will not be able to slow down.
  • Another vehicle that hits and runs may be the culprit, causing the single vehicle to swerve and crash.

Investigating a Single-Vehicle Crash

Evidence is important in determining why a crash occurred, particularly when the driver and passengers were killed. Our investigators are adept at finding clues in a myriad of ways. From road marks that tell if the driver tried to stop to defective brakes, our team knows how to determine the cause of the accident.

If witnesses are available, our investigators interview them. They also look for sources of video capture of the crash. At intersections, the use of traffic surveillance cameras is common. So are security cameras attached to many homes and businesses. We also use accident reconstruction techniques to determine liability in the crash and check for the possibility that another vehicle was involved.
