Two Killed in Separate Car Accidents
Two separate single-vehicle accidents occurred near Merced County on Sunday, September 3, 2017. The crashes, sadly, claimed the lives of two young women.
First Accident Details
A 31-year-old Dos Palos woman was driving her 1996 Toyota Avalon southbound along Highway 59 in the vicinity of Sandy Mush Road at about 1:20 pm. For unknown reasons, the woman allegedly allowed her vehicle to drift into the northbound lane of travel. The vehicle lost control and overturned several times. Witnesses stopped to flip the car over and assist the injured woman out of the vehicle. Authorities confirmed that she was wearing her seat belt at the time of the collision.
Second Accident Details
A 26-year-old Merced woman was driving her 2000 Toyota Camry southbound along Highway 99 at approximately 6:10 am. The woman took the freeway exit for 16th Street. For unknown reasons, her vehicle collided with a pillar along the north end of 16th Street.
Were They Injured?
Investigation reports concluded that both drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles. Both motorists were, unfortunately, pronounced deceased at the scene.
We would like to extend our sincere thoughts and condolences to the loved ones of the two women that passed away in these devastating accidents.
What Caused the Accidents?
The separate car accidents are still under investigation by authorities. A Traffic Collision Report is usually processed within one to two weeks from the date of the accident. Sometimes, traffic reports can be inconclusive or contain errors relating to fault in single-vehicle accidents. This may leave the loved ones of the fallen victims with many unanswered questions. Such crashes may be the result of a phantom driver or a hit-and-run driver. It is important to contact an experienced Merced car accident lawyer to investigate further into the matter to properly determine liability.
