Injuries Reported in State Route 99 Accident
An injury occurred in a two-vehicle accident in Sacramento on October 17 on northbound State Route 99. The police report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated that the accident happened just south of the Fruitridge Road exit ramp around 10:25 in the morning. A Nissan Altima and Toyota Rav4 collided, which sent one of the vehicles crashing into the center divider.
Two-Vehicle Accident Being Investigated
One party exited their vehicle and attempted to push it off the roadway. There were complaints of pain by those involved in the accident, which were assessed by first responders with the Sacramento Fire Department. It was not reported whether those individuals were taken to the hospital for additional treatment or released at the accident scene. The two-vehicle accident is under investigation by the CHP to find out how it happened and to assign fault.
Reasons a Two-Vehicle Accident Occurs
There are a number of reasons a two-vehicle accident can happen, and most of them have to do with negligence on the part of one of the drivers. Common causes include:
- Distracted driving is the main cause of accidents, according to the latest statistics. Examples of distracted driving include talking on a cell phone, texting, monitoring GPS, and eating or drinking.
- Drunk driving is still a major cause of a two-vehicle accident. Drunk drivers exhibit poor judgment, slowed reflexes, and other undesirable effects from alcohol, making them a danger on the road.
- Speeding and other reckless driving can lead to a two-vehicle accident. Running a red light or stop sign is one of the most common traffic infractions.
- Mechanical problems in a vehicle can lead to a two-vehicle accident. When a defect in an auto part causes an accident injury, financial compensation may be sought by filing a product liability lawsuit.
- Government negligence can contribute to a two-vehicle accident. Potholes, unkept roadways with debris, nonfunctioning traffic lights, and other problems can all cause a vehicle to go out of control and crash.
Compensation Following an Accident Injury
Personal injury claims can help an individual who has been injured to recover financial compensation for the following:
- All the medical costs associated with the accident are compensated. This includes medical bills, ambulance expenses, medications, doctors’ visits, rehabilitation, and even out of pocket expenses.
- At-home care is compensated if it is necessary. This includes the cost of a walker, wheelchair, or adaptations to allow the patient to stay at home. At-home nursing care is covered too.
- Lost wages, bonuses, and other financial losses are covered if the injured person is unable to work.
- Pain and suffering include loss of consortium, loss of the enjoyment of life, and other areas, which you can discuss with your attorney.
Gathering Evidence to Support an Accident Claim
Evidence to prove a client’s claim for compensation is necessary, and our investigators are highly experienced in doing that. They head to the two-vehicle accident site right away to look over the police report, looking for mistakes and interview witnesses for corroborating statements. They perform forensic reconstruction of the two-vehicle accident, which demonstrates the positioning of the vehicles, how the crash occurred and can point toward liability.
Business and traffic surveillance cameras are checked to see if the accident was caught on video. This compelling evidence is useful when either negotiating with the insurance company on behalf of the client or in court.
Our experienced lawyers take over once all the evidence has been compiled. They use it to construct a strong case for personal injury compensation that benefits our client. In this way, the client can be financially compensated.
