What Damages Can I Receive in a Personal Injury Claim?
A bodily injury claim for a motor vehicle collision is intended to reimburse a party injured in an accident through no fault of their own. This includes compensation for non-economic and economic damages like pain and suffering, wage loss, medical bills, and other related losses. In cases involving egregious behavior like drunk driving or excessive speeding, the injured party may have the option of seeking punitive damages directly from the at-fault party. Punitive damages are solely intended to punish wrongdoers and prevent similar scenarios from occurring in the future.
Insurance companies often resort to defense tactics to avoid paying bodily injury claims from roadway accidents. In some situations, insurers may attempt to pinpoint fault on the injured party or argue that injuries in the claim are unrelated to the car crash. In other cases, insurance carriers may dispute payment of medical bills and claim that treatment was not reasonable and necessary. In either of these scenarios, this may be a challenging matter to navigate without skilled legal counsel on your side. When you have an injury attorney, they will protect your rights and interests throughout the process.
While you can handle a personal injury claim with an insurer without legal representation, the insurance carrier may take full advantage of your inexperience with the procedures and rules of the court, not to mention the various pitfalls that may impact your claim. It is essential to work with a skilled California car accident lawyer to receive full compensation for your injuries and losses. You will receive that when you work with our legal team at AutoAccident.com.
