Details on the Two-Vehicle Collision on Interstate 680

Authorities responding to the scene located two vehicles that were involved in a traffic accident. What to Expect from the Personal Injury Claims Process

When you are injured in a traffic crash in California, you may have the option of seeking reimbursement for injuries and losses through a personal injury claim. This must be filed with the insurance company that represents the negligent driver or with your insurer if the other side has limited to no liability coverage. The latter is a viable option only if you have uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. Liability must be proven to bring a successful case forward. Some of the common reasons for auto accidents include speeding, DUI, reckless driving, and more.

The recovery process is not always straightforward because there may be difficult insurers involved. Insurance carriers have teams of claims adjusters and defense counsel working on every accident case. Their job is to pay the lowest amounts possible on claims. They may resort to defense tactics to accomplish that goal. This may occur in the form of lowball settlement offers, pinpointing fault on an injured party, and claiming that reported injuries are unrelated to the crash.

While you cannot control the actions of others who cause crashes through their negligence or carelessness, you can control how you respond after an accident. Reaching out to a skilled California car accident lawyer to better understand your options for financial recovery is the first step to getting your life back on track. When you retain legal counsel, you level the playing field and have protection against the defense tactics insurers may employ to take advantage of injured parties. Is There a Deadline on Personal Injury Claims?

There is a specific window of time that an injured party has to file a case in civil court for an auto accident. For personal injury, a two-year statute of limitations generally applies. It is best to seek assistance immediately once an accident happens. That is because evidence may be lost or destroyed, and without evidence, it may be challenging to prove a personal injury case. Therefore, it is in your best interest to retain legal counsel right away.
