Accident Near Capitol Enterprise Off-Ramp May Have Involved Hit-and-Run
A reported hit-and-run collision resulted in minor injuries on December 24 in West Sacramento. The accident, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), happened along westbound I-80 near the west Capitol Enterprise Boulevard off-ramp shortly after 11:00 a.m. A Cadillac SUV and Nissan Sentra were involved. One of the vehicles showed major damage to its front and rear. The CHP is investigating to determine how the accident occurred.
Common Injuries in a Traffic Accident
Those who are involved in collisions can suffer severe physical injuries such as head trauma, spinal cord damage, broken bones and lacerations. In addition to physical injuries, they may also experience emotional trauma and financial loss due to medical bills and other related expenses.
Hit-and-Run Causes on Highways and Near Off-Ramps
Causes of a hit-and-run accident near a highway off-ramp may include a driver’s failure to comply with traffic laws, such as speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failing to yield the right of way. Inattention due to using a cell phone or other electronic device is also a common factor in fleeing driver accidents.
Other reasons a driver flees the scene of an accident can include outstanding tickets, illegal substances in the vehicle or lack of insurance. In some cases, drivers panic and flee the scene before assessing the consequences of their actions. Hit-and-runs typically occur when there are few witnesses present, making them difficult for law enforcement officers to investigate and prosecute.
How Lawyers Investigate to Locate a Fleeing Driver
In the event of a fleeing driver, lawyers must investigate thoroughly to determine where the person may have gone. Gathering evidence includes interviewing witnesses, performing research at the accident scene, and checking nearby surveillance cameras. Once information is gathered, lawyers can create a profile of the fleeing driver and begin searching for clues that could lead to the individual’s whereabouts. In addition, the collision report issued by the responding police is examined to ensure its accuracy because errors might adversely affect the injured party’s ability to file a personal injury claim to recover damages.
When all the evidence is collected, our accident attorneys go to work to construct a strong case to support our client’s compensation claim. In this way, they can recover maximum damages for their medical bills, wages that were lost from being unable to work, and for their pain and suffering.
Using Uninsured/Underinsured Auto Accident Coverage to Pay for Your Injuries
When driving in California, having the right insurance coverage can save you from financial strain if you get into an accident. Uninsured/underinsured auto accident coverage is essential for those who don’t have enough insurance to cover their medical bills and other expenses related to a car crash. This type of insurance ensures that you are covered for expenses related to a car accident, even if the other driver can’t be located or doesn’t have enough insurance or any at all.
