Woman Identified After Vallejo Crash
On Friday, September 6, 2019, authorities from the Solano County Sheriff’s Department released the identity of a local woman who was fatally injured during a Vallejo crash six days earlier. The woman was identified as Amber Fisher, a 33-year-old resident of Vallejo. In addition to Fisher, four more people suffered injuries that ranged from minor to severe. The accident is still under investigation by the Vallejo Police Department (VPD). In addition to identifying the decedent, authorities have also released more information about the collision since it was first reported.
Crash Details
The accident took place at the intersection of Redwood Street and Valle Vista Avenue. Fisher had been the rear passenger in a black Nissan Altima that attempted to turn left to enter Valle Vista from Redwood. While performing the turn, the Altima was reportedly struck by a gold Nissan Maxima. The Maxima struck the side of the Altima head-on, sustaining significant damage in the process.
Police who responded to the accident reported speaking briefly with the Altima driver, identified as a 53-year-old Vallejo man before the man got back into his car and attempted to drive away from the scene. While the man drove away, his front-right passenger fled the site on foot. Both were located and detained by police a short time later. Officers say that they stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Panorama and Tuolumne Drives. Upon stopping the vehicle again, police found two more passengers seated in the rear, including Fisher.
Injuries
The 23-year-old male driver of the Maxima reportedly suffered minor injuries, while his 23-year-old female passenger was not injured during the incident.
Police allegedly discovered illegal drugs and alcohol inside the vehicle. The driver found with a broken ankle, was arrested before being released into hospital custody and subsequently booked into the Solano County Jail. The left rear passenger, a 44-year-old Vallejo man, suffered minor injuries, while the front-right passenger, a 40-year-old Vallejo man, broke his leg due to the crash. Fisher, who had been the left-rear passenger, tragically suffered fatal injuries.
No other individuals were reported to have been a part of the crash.
Investigation
As VPD continues its investigation into this accident, officers have asked for help from the public. Anyone with information that could help investigators better understand this accident has been asked to contact the VPD Traffic Division at (707) 648-4011 and refer to case number 19-10355.
