Wrong Way Driver Kills Two on Motorcycle
I’m Ed Smith, a Sacramento motorcycle accident attorney. Two people riding on a motorcycle were stuck and killed by a motorist on the morning of Monday, September 26, 2016. The person who hit the pair is a suspected drunk driver. The drunk driver was headed the wrong direction along Madison Avenue in Sacramento.
What Happened?
Brandon R. Fernandez was travelling east in the westbound lane along Madison Avenue around 3 a.m. He was approaching the vicinity of Lincoln Oaks Drive when he struck the westbound motorcyclist and his passenger, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Collision Causes Both Vehicles to Burst into Flames
As a result of the impact, the driver of the motorcycle and his passenger were thrown from the motorcycle. Both vehicles caught fire upon impact.
Motorcyclist and his Passenger Killed in Crash
Sadly, both individuals on the motorcycle passed away as a result of the fiery crash. Officers said that they both were wearing helmets at the time of the collision.
Coroner Identifies One of the Victims
The county coroner’s office in Sacramento released the identity of the passenger on the motorcyle as Marguerite Stahl, 25, of Sacramento. The identity of the man driving the motorcycle was not released because his next of kin had not yet been notified.
Suspected Drunk Driver
Authorities believe that 28-year-old, Fernandez, of Orangevale, was driving under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and sits in Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of alchohol and vehicular manslaughter.
