A fatal pedestrian accident involving a man, 56, occurred in Natomas on May 4 when he was struck by a car while trying to cross a highway. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported the accident happened on Interstate 5 shortly after 3:30 a.m. near Arena Boulevard in the Natomas Crossing area. The man was attempting to cross from the northbound shoulder to the opposite side when he entered the northbound fast lane and was hit by a Hyundai driven by a driver, age 30. 

Pedestrian Dies at Scene of Highway Accident

The impact sent the pedestrian into the freeway’s center median, according to a CHP North Sacramento spokesperson. Emergency responders from the CHP and the Sacramento Fire Department arrived at the scene of the fatal pedestrian accident around 3:39 a.m. However, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the site.

The driver of the Hyundai, who stayed behind to cooperate with law enforcement, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries sustained in the incident. The name of the deceased is to be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after his family is notified.
