Locating a Hit-and-Run Driver Through Evidence Collection
In hit-and-run cases, our team swiftly deploys investigators to collect evidence and corroborate statements from witnesses. This crucial step often involves the following:
- Examining surveillance footage from traffic cameras, businesses, and residential areas to capture the accident and identify the offending vehicle and driver can, in some cases, help identify the driver of the vehicle.
- Analyzing the police report for detailed information and verifying its accuracy to deduce the make and model of the vehicle involved allows investigators to determine the report’s accuracy because errors can affect the client’s ability to file a claim.
- Conducting interviews with witnesses present at the Fair Oaks hit-and-run for any valuable information about the vehicle or driver.
- Visiting the crash site to collect evidence, including paint samples and vehicle parts, which can indicate the make and model of the vehicle.
- Investigating local auto repair shops for a vehicle that matches the description and damage reported may lead to the location of the offending vehicle involved in the Fair Oaks fleeing driver incident.
Holding Someone Accountable for Damages for Fair Oaks Hit-and-Run
Our lawyers can hold the driver accountable for injuries once they positively identify them. They negotiate with the at-fault driver’s insurance company using the evidence collected to achieve a successful outcome. If the insurance company refuses to negotiate or denies the claim, our lawyer proceeds to civil court to ensure a favorable resolution.
Compensating for Injuries When Locating the Driver Is Impossible
In a Fair Oaks hit-and-run accident where the responsible driver remains unidentified, the injured can seek compensation through their uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage. While not mandatory, many people in California carry this extra policy as a precautionary measure due to the high number of drivers in the state who are uninsured or don’t carry enough insurance. In cases where the injured does not have this uninsured/underinsured policy but a family member does, it can offer coverage for their injuries. The policy rates remain the same and are not increased in the future if it is used.
