Common Delayed Injury Symptoms After a Car Accident

A two-vehicle accident near Tracy can result in various injuries, some of which may not be immediately apparent. Delayed injury symptoms can manifest hours, days, or weeks after the incident. Common delayed symptoms include:

  • Headaches: Headaches may appear days after the accident and can indicate a concussion, whiplash, or even a blood clot.
  • Neck and shoulder pain: Pain in the shoulder or neck area can signal cervical sprain or strain, commonly called whiplash. This condition is common in rear-end collisions and may not become painful until hours later.
  • Back pain: Delayed back pain might be a sign of herniated discs, spinal injuries, or soft tissue damage.
  • Abdominal pain: This symptom could point to internal bleeding or damage to an organ, which is a serious condition requiring immediate medical attention.
  • Numbness and tingling: These sensations might suggest a pinched nerve or herniated disc, often stemming from spinal injuries.
  • Emotional distress: Psychological symptoms such as anxiety, depression, or PTSD can also emerge well after the physical impact of an accident.

Filing a Claim for Compensation

When a negligent driver causes your injuries, a claim may be placed against that person or their estate. If the driver was underage, the claim may be placed against the parents or guardians under certain circumstances. Those who were injured may recover compensation such as medical costs, damages for pain and suffering, and lost wages.
