Shingletown Fatal Two-Truck Collision Occurs on Highway 44

Authorities from the Shasta County sheriff’s office have confirmed the identity of a victim involved in a fatal two-truck collision recently. Officials state that a Deputy Coroner went to Highway 44, near Ally Gold Way at Shingletown, at approximately 7:45 p.m. because of a fatal accident involving two trucks. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that a Nissan Frontier traveling westbound on SR-44 veered across the double yellow lines and collided head-on with an eastbound GMC Sierra truck. 

Two People Injured in Fatal Two-Truck Collision

Upon arrival of medics and traffic officers on Friday night, the driver of the Nissan Frontier was found at the scene and pronounced dead following the fatal two-truck collision. The GMC Sierra truck contained two occupants, a 43-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman, both of whom were transported to Mercy Medical Center with varying degrees of injuries. Investigators have identified the deceased as a 31-year-old male from Oakland, California. 

Authorities Think Intoxication May Have Been Involved

Notifications have been made to his family regarding his untimely death, and his body will undergo an autopsy to ascertain the cause of death. Preliminary reports from the CHP suggest that alcohol may have played a role in the fatal two-truck collision, which is still under investigation. The CHP traffic division is investigating the accident.
