The Sacramento Police Department reported that the deadly traffic collision occurred around 7:45 a.m. at the intersection of 21st and X streets near Highway 50. The injured bicyclist was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Later, around 9:00 a.m., officers located the suspect vehicle at 19th Street and Broadway, just two blocks from the original scene of the incident.

Recoverable Damages in a California Wrongful Death Case

In the event of a wrongful death claim stemming from a fatal Sacramento hit-and-run, family members may pursue various forms of compensation designed to alleviate the financial and emotional hardships associated with the loss. The types of recoverable damages include loss of income, funeral and burial expenses, lost household assistance and absence of companionship.

How a Lawyer Finds a Hit-and-Run Driver

When dealing with a fatal Sacramento hit-and-run case, a lawyer employs a combination of investigative techniques and legal resources to identify the responsible driver. They may work closely with law enforcement to gather all available evidence from the scene, such as skid marks, vehicle fragments, and surveillance footage. Witnesses are also invaluable; the lawyer might interview them to compile descriptions that could lead to a suspect.

A crucial part of the process often involves checking databases and records, including traffic cameras and vehicle registrations, to trace the vehicle involved in the incident. Private investigators can amplify efforts in locating the suspect who caused the pedestrian death or injury. Throughout this process, the lawyer ensures all actions comply with legal standards to build a solid case once the driver is identified.
