A fatal pedestrian crash on November 28 in Redding has led to the arrest of a local woman. According to the Redding Police Department, officers responded around 1:54 p.m. to the scene on Lake Boulevard close to Clay Street, where they found a pedestrian who had suffered fatal injuries after being struck by a vehicle. Investigators revealed that the deceased pedestrian, who had been pushing a shopping cart on the shoulder of Lake Boulevard, was hit by a car traveling westbound.
Fleeing Driver Arrested in Fatal Pedestrian Crash
The driver, a 44-year-old Redding resident, fled the scene and went to her home instead of stopping to render aid. Police located the female driver at her residence and arrested her on charges of vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence, causing significant bodily injury or death, and felony hit-and-run. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, with their identity currently withheld pending notification of next of kin. The vehicle driver was booked into the Shasta County Jail.
