Man and His Dog Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Victoria Avenue

A fatal Ventura pedestrian accident on Victoria Avenue recently resulted in the deaths of a man and his dog after they were struck by a vehicle at a busy intersection. The incident occurred around 7:25 p.m. at the crosswalk near Avocet Drive, in front of a Walmart and Trader Joe’s shopping center. The Ventura Police Department reported that the man, pushing a cart filled with belongings, appeared to be retrieving items from the roadway when he was hit.

Video footage from another vehicle showed the cart had fallen over, scattering its contents in the crosswalk. Moving through a green light, a southbound driver in the left lane struck the man and his dog. Authorities indicated the driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
