Chico Community Events – November 2019
The city of Chico is a vibrant community, and because of its location in one of the most beautiful parts of California, residents are able to easily spend time hiking, fishing, and enjoying the scenery. Not only is Chico in a great geographical location, but it’s also a bustling center for students, families, and area residents looking to have fun. Those living in Chico know that there are many great community events for people of all ages to attend year-round. Some of the exciting Chico community events coming up in November are listed below.
The Chico Independent Film Festival
When: Friday, November 15, through Sunday, November 17, 2019
Where: Chico CARD Center
The Chico Independent Film Festival is hosting its eighth annual celebration of independent filmmaking in California. The festival melds local art and commerce with tourism and travel in Northern California and includes a variety of talented filmmakers, virtual cooperative communities, and interactive collaboration from area artists. This year, the festival will focus on “Computers in Film” and will include animation, computer-generated footage, local to global VR experiences, and more.

A Very Chico Nutcracker
When: Thursday – Saturday, November 30 – December 2 @ 7:00 p.m.
Saturday – Sunday December 2-3 @ 2:00 p.m.
Where: Laxson Auditorium
Chico Community Ballet’s newly envisioned version of The Nutcracker is returning to the stage by popular demand. With inspiration from both the traditional ballet and Chico’s rich history, this event is a journey back in time to Christmas eves of Northern CA past. Those looking to start the holidays off with a bang won’t be disappointed by this great community theater event.
19th Annual Run For Food
When: Thursday, November 28, 2019 @ 9:00 a.m.
Where: One Mile Recreation Area in Lower Bidwell Park
The local charity organization Run for Food will be holding its annual event to benefit the needy in the city of Chico. Community members are invited to gather at Bidwell Park to work up an appetite for Thanksgiving dinner by running and/or walking for a good cause. The 5k run will begin and end at the same location. Competitive runners will be able to use a professionally timed chip, and the course is wheelchair accessible. To learn more about this event or buy tickets, you can visit this website.
