Cottonwood Woman Suffers Deadly Trauma In Auto Accident
On Tuesday, March 30, 2021, a Cottonwood woman sadly lost her life during an area auto accident. According to information from officers of the California Highway Patrol (CHP), this accident happened at night in a rural area of northern Tehama County. The decedent was identified by Tehama County Sheriff’s Department authorities as 27-year-old Jovana Sanchez. In addition to Sanchez, one other person, a 26-year-old man from Cottonwood, suffered trauma during the accident.
Crash Information
CHP traffic reports state that the crash happened at about 8:00 p.m. on Riverview Drive close to Lake California. After conducting preliminary investigations, police said that they believe Sanchez was driving in a 2016 Mazda heading north on River View just south of the Antelope Creek Drive intersection. At this time, Sanchez apparently lost control of the Mazda for unknown reasons, and the car veered to the left, eventually driving off the road. Afterward, the Mazda continued a short distance and eventually crashed into a tree.
Response
CHP dispatch sent a response team out to the scene shortly after the incident was reported. As they reached the scene, responders found that Sanchez had sustained critical injuries. Tragically, she was pronounced deceased at the crash scene. The passenger was discovered with reportedly minor injuries, and whether or not he was hospitalized has not been reported.
Investigation
CHP states that their investigators are working to determine what factors contributed to this accident. However, at this time, no causes have been confirmed. Frequently, solo-vehicle collisions are more complicated than they initially appear and might involve hard-to-detect factors that aren’t the fault of the driver. These kinds of things include things like driving a car that has defective parts or using a roadway with damaged pavement or other serious hazards.
Furthermore, conducting an investigation of a fatal crash can be highly difficult. Without the ability to take statements from the driver, police might not ever gain a full understanding of what happened. Without all of the relevant evidence, it can be hard or even impossible for families of decedents to hold at-fault parties and/or insurance companies responsible for wrongful death damages.
Because of this, it’s important to seek help from a Cottonwood wrongful death lawyer as soon as you can. By conducting a private accident investigation, your attorney can ensure that the collision is investigated thoroughly and with your family’s right to compensation as a priority.
