Criminal Santa Arrested in Chimney
I’m Ed Smith, a Personal Injury Lawyer in Citrus Heights. A would-be thief was thwarted earlier this month when he became stuck in a chimney. Firefighters were able to extricate the man, delivering him into the waiting hands of the police.
What Happened?
The 32-year-old Rocklin man had attempted to gain access to a Citrus Heights business through the building’s chimney when he managed to become lodged in the narrow chute. The industrious ‘criminal Santa’ was able to use his cellphone to call for help. The Sacramento Fire Department responded to the call, and with the help of special equipment were able to rescue the trapped man. Police report that the man was uninjured and has been arrested on burglary related charges.
Holiday Package Theft
Package theft has made headlines in recent weeks as shoppers take advantage of holiday sales and online shopping. Police in Sacramento have taken the opportunity to deploy bait packages to lure “porch pirates” into stealing packages with tracking devices embedded in them. The Rancho Cordova, El Dorado Hills, and Roseville Police Departments are also employing similar tactics this holiday season. This is a good time to remember to bring those packages in right away.
Stolen Christmas Decorations
The season of giving has also brought a wave of Grinch like thefts of Christmas decorations. As residents risk life and limb to decorate their beautiful homes and majestic trees with holiday lights, a certain criminal element has been plotting to steal Christmas from others. The widespread availability of home security cameras has produced a remarkable amount of video evidence of these tasteless crimes- hopefully helpful to authorities.
