As warmer weather begins, residents of Davis are in for a whole host of great community events to enjoy. As a vibrant college town with a very unique personality, Davis has something for everyone. To learn about some of the upcoming Davis community events, check out this blog.
Community Drum Circle
Where: Watermelon Music
When: Saturday, March 14, 2020 @ 6:30-9:00 p.m.
Local music shop Watermelon Music will be hosting Mamadou’s Community Drum Circle. Proceeds from the event will go directly to charities supported by Larry and Teri Merson. Anybody looking to spend some time playing improvisational rhythmic music with members of their community is invited to participate. Watermelon Music will include free drum rentals with the price of admission. Get more details here.
The Lucky Run
Where: Davis Community Park
When: Saturday, March 21, 2020, @ 8:00 a.m.
Davis residents looking to spend some time outside and, possibly, break a sweat are invited to participate in the upcoming Lucky Run. The race will include timed 5k, 7k, and 10k routes as well as a quarter and a half-mile Kids’ Run. The registration price for the event includes a finisher medal and a technical t-shirt or cotton shirt and ribbon for children. Free refreshments will also be offered at the end of the race. Holi Celebration
Where: Community (Rainbow) Park Solar Panel Area
When: Sunday, March 15, 2020, @ 12:00 p.m.
Shree Sanaran Dharam Shiv Mandir will be presenting their Annual Faag Sammelan of 2020 at the Davis Community Park. All community members are invited to come to this celebration of the festival of colors, Holi. The event will include live performances, food, lots of vibrant colors, games and more.
ArtAbout
Where: Downtown Davis
When: Friday, March 13, 2020
The Davis Downtown Association is hosting it’s monthly 2nd Friday ArtAbout, a self-guided tour through the center of the city featuring art installations as well as receptions at galleries, businesses, and co-ops. The event will include activities, live music, and complimentary wine and refreshments at various establishments.
All the exhibits of the ArtAbout come together to create an intimate and diverse evening for everyone to explore. Each month, an average of 30 venues participate and host local and regional talents and artistic styles that emphasize Davis’ vibrant arts community. Find out more about the event at this link.
Pi Day at the Explorit Science Center
Where: The Explorit Science Center
When: March 14, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m.
Families are invited to celebrate a very mathematical day at the Explorit Science Center. The center will be hosting a variety of math and science activities, as well as a circular scavenger hunt and an immersive Light and Sound exhibit. Additionally, at 3:14, the center will be hosting a raffle drawing for a coveted prize: free pie. Find out more here.
