Dos Palos Woman Killed After Fatal Collision
A woman was killed after a fatal traffic collision just northeast of the Dos Palos area on the night of Tuesday, September 29, 2020. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the car accident occurred shortly before 9:00 p.m. at Palm Avenue and Carmellia Avenue in Merced County. A 37-year-old woman was driving a 2005 Chrysler eastbound on Carmellia Avenue before coming to a stop in the eastbound lane to make a left turn. A driver of a 1998 Jeep was traveling behind the Chrysler and attempted to overtake the vehicle by entering the oncoming traffic lane. While doing so, the Chrysler allegedly turned left in front of the Jeep, and the left side of the Chrysler was struck by the front of the Jeep.
The impact of the collision propelled the Chrysler into a parked 2013 Chevrolet Camaro. This caused the Camaro to be pushed into a 2001 28-foot long-trailer. The Chrysler came to a rest after colliding with a tree, which resulted in the driver suffering fatal injuries. The cause of the fatal crash is under investigation by the CHP, and no further details, including the name of the decedent, have yet been released.
