Driver in Critical Condition After Crash in Modesto
The Modesto Police Department (Modesto PD) reported that a driver was in critical condition after a crash on North Ninth Street and Coldwell Avenue on the night of Thursday, November 26, 2020. The car accident occurred when a driver of a minivan full of people made an eastbound turn onto Coldwell Avenue from the southbound lanes of Ninth Street, the Modesto PD reported. While doing so, the minivan was involved in a collision with a northbound Volkswagen Jetta. Authorities believe that one of the vehicles ran a red light. However, further investigation into the traffic collision is necessary before officials release which party was at fault.
The occupants of the van sustained minor injuries related to seat belts and airbag deployment, the Modesto PD reported. The dashboard of the Volkswagen was crushed in the motor vehicle accident, pinning the driver’s legs. It took fire crews approximately 30 minutes to extricate him. The Volkswagen driver suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He was last reported to be in critical condition.
