I-80 Roseville Accident Leads to Two People Being Taken to the Hospital

On westbound Interstate 80 in Roseville on August 15, three drivers were involved in a multiple-vehicle accident. The collision occurred close to Eureka Road at around 9:30 in the morning and involved a Nissan Juke, a Ford F-150 pickup and a Toyota Prius. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), minor injuries were suffered in the accident.

Two People Transported to the Hospital After Multiple-Vehicle Accident

Several people riding in the Prius were transported to a nearby hospital for further attention and evaluation. The roadway was temporarily closed as emergency crews and police worked to clear the scene and investigate how the accident happened.

Causes of Accidents Involving Multiple Vehicles

An accident involving multiple vehicles can occur for a number of reasons, including the following:

  • Sudden slowdowns: A driver who stops suddenly can end up causing a pile-up or rear-end collision. In these cases, the problem may be caused by an accident up ahead or merging vehicles. Those who crash into a car in front of them may be driving distracted or speeding, which means they can’t stop quickly enough.
  • Weather conditions: Rain, snow, sleet or just wet pavement can lead to an accident involving multiple vehicles. Although drivers are advised to adjust their speed because of adverse weather conditions, some do not and can crash.
  • Road debris: Road debris can include a spilled load from a tractor-trailer, objects such as sofas that fall from a pickup or large limbs after a storm. When debris is in the roadway, the driver that dropped it is responsible for recovering it. In the case of large limbs or other storm debris, the government agency responsible for maintenance can be held liable.
  • Distracted drivers: Texting, eating, talking with passengers and boredom can distract a driver. Even a distraction of a few seconds is long enough to end up causing a multiple vehicle accident.
  • Fatigued driving: Fatigued drivers have less of an attention span and a slowed reaction time. Fatigue can be caused by performing shift work with changing hours, staying up late the night before, medications or sleep apnea.
  • Speeding: Speeding is a common cause of multiple-vehicle crashes.

 Help Following a Multiple-Vehicle Accident

Investigating a collision involving multiple vehicles can be complicated because more than one of the motorists may be at fault. For example, one driver may have stopped short, which led to a multiple-vehicle accident. The driver behind may have been driving drunk, texting, or otherwise distracted, so they didn’t have enough warning to slow down before colliding with the car in front.

A further problem may be that the vehicles colliding leave their lane due to the impact and strike other cars. An experienced personal injury lawyer in Roseville can investigate who was negligent and responsible for your injuries. Over my years as an injury lawyer, I’ve helped many people receive the compensation they deserve.

The Investigation

Our investigative team successfully collects the evidence needed to support a client’s claim for injury compensation. Some of the areas in which an investigation is conducted include:

  • Looking for errors in the police report
  • Interviewing witnesses, including checking whether anyone taped the accident on their cell phone
  • Performing accident reconstruction
  • Checking for government negligence that added to or caused the crash such as faulty road design, potholes, etc.
  • Searching for surveillance cameras in the area that could have captured the accident
