Alleged Redding DUI Causes Eight-Vehicle Crash
On Thursday, December 19, 2019, an eight-vehicle crash occurred in Redding, injuring five people and sending three of them to the hospital. According to police, the accident was caused by an alleged drunk driver who has been placed under arrest on DUI charges at the crash scene. Staff at the hospital indicated that none of the injuries sustained in the collision were life-threatening.
Crash Details
The accident happened just before 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Cypress Avenue and Creek Road. Authorities of the Redding Police Department (RPD) stated that a 24-year-old Redding man was driving a black-colored Acura SUV westbound on Cypress Avenue approaching the intersection and failed to stop at a red light. As the Acura entered the intersection, it collided with multiple vehicles. Initial reports from emergency officials indicated that five vehicles were involved in the crash, but a later report increased the number to eight.
Police indicated that all drivers and passengers involved in the accident were wearing seatbelts when the crash took place. Out of the five injured people found at the crash scene, three were hospitalized for either lacerations or bruising. Additionally, one of the injured parties was reportedly a juvenile. Further details about the conditions of the injured parties were unavailable.
Another Recent Redding Crash
This accident happened the same day as another serious collision in the Redding area. The other collision happened at about 11:00 p.m. on Old Oregon Trail just north of the city near the Tierra Oaks Golf Club and left six individuals with injuries, two of which suffered major trauma. Police say they are still looking into causal factors of the accident.
Dealing with a Crash Injury
People who suffer injuries in car accidents often face a hard situation. Not only is recovering your health a difficult process, but it can be extremely expensive. Paying for surgeries, medication, and therapy can be even harder if your injuries have left you unable to continue working either permanently or for a period of time. Together with the mental stress of suffering an injury, these financial issues can leave crash survivors feeling overwhelmed.
I believe that crash survivors deserve to be compensated for the damages they have suffered. This is why it’s so important to reach out and call a Redding personal injury attorney who can help you understand your options for claiming compensation from insurance companies and negligent parties. By filing an injury claim, collision survivors are often able to recover payments for the full amount of damages that they’ve suffered.
