Elk Grove Crash Injures Firefighter
I’m Ed Smith, an Elk Grove Car Crash Lawyer. While responding to an emergency early Saturday, February 6, 2016, an Elk Grove crash injures firefighter.
What Happened?
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) and the Cosumnes Fire Department responded to a crash report. A woman had crashed her vehicle into a tree. As responders were assisting at the accident scene, Ryan Olson was driving a van on the freeway about 1:30 a.m., close to the earlier accident scene. Olson rear ended a Honda Civic being driven by Marcus Dandridge. That collision pushed Dandridge’s vehicle off the road and onto the shoulder of the highway. This put Dandridge’s car directly in the path of 38-year-old firefighter, Eric Oviedo, investigators said. Oviedo was hit while other emergency responders were able to quickly move out of the way.
What Type of Injuries Occurred?
Firefighter, Eric Oviedo, suffered serious injuries. He was transported to a Sacramento hospital. Unfortunately, his injuries include a big head laceration, multiple rib fractures and lots of bumps and bruises. A CHP officer was also hurt as he tried to avoid being hit by the same car. That officer’s injuries were of a minor nature. Both drivers of the second crash were uninjured.
Did Alcohol or Drugs Play a Role in this Crash?
Investigators have indicated no one was under the influence in second crash.
Where Did Car Crash Happen?
The crash happened along Interstate 5 near Lambert Road.
