Empire Man Arrested Following Modesto DUI Accident
I’m Ed Smith, a Modesto personal injury lawyer. A group of three were driving together near the Modesto Airport during the midnight hour of Thursday, March 8, 2018. The group was involved in an auto accident which, unfortunately, caused serious injuries to the driver. The motorist of the vehicle was reportedly charged with driving under the influence (DUI) following their discharge from emergency medical care.
What Happened?
An Empire man was driving his 2014 Lexus along South Riverside Drive in the vicinity of Mitchell Road at approximately 12:25 am. The Lexus was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed moments before attempting to turn left onto Mitchell Road. The Lexus collided with the curb along the western edge of Mitchell Road, veered off the roadway and struck a chain link fence. The vehicle later came to a stop inside the Modesto Airport property.
Nature of Injuries
Emergency crews were called to the scene for needed medical attention. Upon arrival, the Lexus driver was transported to the Memorial Medical Center in Modesto for treatment of serious injuries. The two passengers of the Lexus, fortunately, escaped injuries following the collision.
What Caused the Accident?
Authorities reportedly conducted a sobriety test on the motorist of the Lexus after showing signs of alcohol or drug impairment. The man was found driving under the influence and was apprehended by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) following his release from hospitalization.

Driving while impaired is never a good idea as it affects your cognitive, visual and manual abilities, all of which are necessary for making responsible driving decisions.
