Fairfield Teen Killed in Car Accident
California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that a teenager lost their life in a single-vehicle collision that took place in Corte Madera during the morning of Monday, June 10, 2019. The fatally injured teen was identified by county officials as a 17-year-old boy from the city of Fairfield. The teen’s full identity has not been released pending his family’s notification. According to police, no other individuals were involved in the collision, and the accident remains under investigation. I would like to extend my sympathy to the family and friends of the young man who tragically passed away during this auto accident.
Crash Information
CHP reported that the accident happened at about 2:19 a.m. The teenager had been driving a passenger vehicle of unspecified make and model on Highway 101 to the north of the Tamalpais Drive junction. While officers did not specify how the accident took place, reports indicated that the vehicle caught fire as a result of the collision.
Emergency personnel was sent to the site of the accident immediately. When responders arrived, they found that the young man had suffered critical injuries. Sadly, medics could not revive him, and he was declared deceased on-site. Responders say that they are unsure whether or not the teen had been inside the vehicle when it caught fire.
Investigation
CHP reportedly shut down multiple highway lanes while accident response was underway. The area remained closed to traffic until 5:30 a.m. while workers cleared the road and investigators conducted a preliminary investigation of evidence at the scene. So far, no suspected accident factors have been noted by investigating authorities.
