Fatality and Multiple Injuries Reported in Traffic Crash on E Tabor Avenue
An accident in Fairfield on December 24 resulted in one fatality and three others involved in the collision were seriously injured. The collision occurred along E Tabor Avenue near Railroad Avenue during the evening hours. At least one person had to be extricated from their vehicle by responders with the Fairfield Fire Department.
Three People Transported to Hospital Following Serious Traffic Crash
In addition to the fatality, at least one of the other patients reportedly suffered major injuries in the collision. Both sides of E Tabor were shut down between Olive Avenue and Claybank Road by officers with the Fairfield Police Department as an investigation was conducted into the cause of the crash. Officials have recently identified the deceased as Henry Blank, 62, of Vacaville.
Determining Liability in a Multiple-Vehicle Accident
When a traffic crash involves multiple vehicles, it can be difficult to determine liability. It is important to review the facts of the case and consider the laws of that state when determining who is ultimately liable for damages resulting from the accident. Generally speaking, fault will be assigned according to negligence principles. If one driver was less careful than another or violated a traffic law, that driver can be held liable for the accident.
Recovering Compensation in Fatality and Injury Accidents
If you’ve been injured or lost a family member in a traffic crash, you may be entitled to compensation. In California, the first step is determining who is legally responsible for the accident and whether their negligence caused your injuries or the death of your loved one. If a third party—such as another driver, a government entity for poor roadway maintenance or a product manufacturer—can be found liable, they may be required to pay you a settlement or award.
Filing a Claim After a Traffic Crash
To seek and receive compensation, you’ll need to file a claim against the responsible party and their insurance company. Personal injury claims must include evidence that proves negligence, such as witness testimony and photos of the accident scene. You may also need to provide medical records, bills and other proof of damages.
When seeking a wrongful death claim, the process is similar. This means providing evidence of lost wages, potential future earnings, pain and suffering and funeral and burial expenses, so the family can recover compensation.
