Fatal Accident on Jackson Highway in Sacramento
A fatal accident occurred on Jackson Highway east of Florin Perkins Road in Sacramento on August 2 at approximately 6:10 a.m. The early morning crash occurred when the driver of a large black pickup, heading east on Jackson Highway, crossed over into the westbound lane, striking a cargo van. The driver of the white van, who has only been identified as male, was killed in the crash. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the driver of the black pickup was injured and was transported to a local hospital. As of this time, the reason this fatal accident happened is unclear, and a police investigation is ongoing. Drivers were asked to avoid the area due to the accident. All traffic on the 8600 block of Jackson Road was slowed as crews tried to clear the crash. There is no word as to whether drugs or alcohol were involved. I would like to take this opportunity to offer my condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
What a Lawyer Can Do After a Fatal Accident
When a loved one has passed, the family is left with an overwhelming sense of grief. When a death happens suddenly, this grief is accompanied by shock and disbelief. While the death of a family member is never easy, it is all the more tragic when it is caused by a reckless act. Although intentional acts and other types of accidents can cause a wrongful death, car crashes are the most common reasons they happen. In such cases, it is important to have a personal injury attorney at your side. Our investigators are dispatched to the scene to determine why the accident happened. We look for clues, interview witnesses and obtain traffic camera and other video footage that captured the accident digitally. Our investigators also check police reports for accuracy. Once this information is accumulated, our legal team puts together a strong case that we use to negotiate with insurance companies and take to civil court if necessary.
Dealing With a Wrongful Death
When a sudden, unexpected death occurs, the family is robbed of the chance to say goodbye or to comfort their loved one. They find themselves asking why something like this could happen. A wrongful death occurs without justification and rests on the negligence or intentions of another person. We owe a duty to each other to act in a way that causes no harm to another. Yet, every day, drivers stray from this obligation. Not only is the deceased victimized by this behavior, so is their family.
How a Family Is Hurt
The family of someone who died due to the negligence of another finds itself without the love and emotional support the person provided. Their life is also bereft of the person’s guidance. Such losses are compounded by the financial hardships they may face. For instance, the family is responsible for the end-of-life expenses that are costly today. They also find themselves trying to pay household expenses without the monetary support the person provided. The financial issues compound the grief they feel and make it more difficult to adjust to a changed life.
How to Deal With Grief
There are seven stages of grief, and allowing yourself to pass through them helps you heal. They range from denial, pain, anger, loneliness, lessening grief, and reconstruction to rebuilding. The stages are not necessarily linear, and there is no time limit from one to another. The main thing is to allow yourself time. An injury lawyer can help by obtaining monetary justice from the negligent party. No one has the right to inflict harm on another person.
