Fatal Bicycle Crash on State Route 120
The CHP Sonora area office reported a fatal bicycle crash on State Route 120 just east of Knights Ferry on the morning of Friday, November 25, 2022. The car vs. bicycle accident occurred at approximately 10:40 a.m. on SR-120 in the vicinity of Tulloch Dam Road and involved a 2005 Subaru, officials said.

A release by CHP traffic officers revealed that a 22-year-old Oakdale resident was driving the Subaru eastbound on Highway 120 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle allegedly collided with a cyclist in the area. Emergency personnel responding to the scene performed life-saving measures on the injured cyclist, Bruce Johnathan Velthoen, 67, of Modesto.
Sadly, the bicyclist was declared deceased at the crash site, according to the California Highway Patrol.Additional information on the fatal car vs. bicycle crash on State Route 120 near Knights Ferry in Tuolumne County was not immediately available due to an ongoing investigation.
