The big rig driver broadsided the Chevy, which caused the smaller vehicle to be moved through the intersection and experience a rollover in a nearby orchard. The driver of the Chevy was not using a seat restraint when the collision happened and sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Negligent Truck Drivers Can Lead to a Big Rig Accident
The trucking industry is one of the most important parts of our economy. In order to sustain our way of life and survive, they deliver the goods we need. It is unfortunate that some truckers can cause dangerous collisions. Truckers are responsible for driving safely and not endangering others. Negligence can result in them being held accountable when they do not comply.
Common Types of Negligence in a Truck Accident
An accident involving a big rig can be caused by a trucker’s negligence for many reasons. Oftentimes, truckers must drive for long periods of time, resulting in fatigue. As a result, they may make mistakes or fall asleep at the wheel. Additionally, truckers may be distracted by their GPS or phone instead of paying attention to the road. A truck that is improperly maintained can also cause an accident. The brakes of a truck can be very dangerous if they are not working properly, for example.
