Commercial Truck Accidents Involving Tire Blowouts
One of the common causes of crashes involving big rigs is improper truck maintenance. Lack of maintenance may contribute to collisions from brake failure, malfunctioning steering equipment causing loss of control, detachment of cargo from the semi-truck, tire shredding or blowouts, and more. As described above, liability may fall on more than one party when a tire falls off a semi-truck and strikes another vehicle. Aside from the truck driver, the owner of the big rig may also be held liable for the incident due to insufficient truck maintenance.
An in-depth investigation into a tractor-trailer collision is necessary. This serves to identify all negligent parties, as others may be liable for a crash aside from the truck driver. Remember that trucking companies often act quickly following a collision involving one of their vehicles. As such, it is essential to retain legal counsel when a semi-truck crash leaves you injured or deprives your family of a loved one. Letters of preservation of evidence must be sent to the other side immediately. Proving liability and damages in a commercial truck accident case may be challenging without evidence.
