Details on the Fatal Hit-and-Run Motorcycle Crash in Kings County

CHP traffic officers said a motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Avenal Cutoff Road when an oncoming vehicle allegedly attempted to make a turn and entered the direct path of the biker. The motorcyclist reportedly collided with the side of the vehicle and fell off the bike onto the pavement.

The biker was allegedly struck by an oncoming big rig. The California Highway Patrol indicated that the trucker did not pull over following the incident. Sadly, the motorcyclist was declared deceased at the crash site.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the initial accident remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The biker had a GoPro camera that officials will use to provide more information on the incident.

What is Wrongful Death?

Wrongful death refers to the loss of life that has happened because of an incident caused by negligence. It can be challenging to establish how a wrongful death occurred, particularly if it resulted from a hit-and-run accident. Survivors must provide clear and compelling evidence that the hit-and-run accident resulted from the decedent’s passing and not from another cause. A motorcycle accident attorney who is familiar with California wrongful death law can help surviving family members collect evidence that supports their case.

In some situations, law enforcement is unsuccessful at locating the suspect driver and vehicle. Fortunately, working with an experienced wrongful death lawyer may simplify the process. An attorney will work with a private investigator to track down the suspect driver. If this is unsuccessful, the lawyer will take to the decedent’s insurance policy to seek reimbursement for losses from the hit-and-run accident through their uninsured motorist coverage.

When you represent yourself in a wrongful death claim, you may place yourself and your loved ones in a vulnerable position. These cases require the knowledge, skills, and resources that an accident attorney will have after years of experience practicing wrongful death law. As a survivor, you owe it to yourself and your loved ones to work with the best lawyer in your area to ensure you receive the justice and financial compensation you deserve.

What Types of Evidence are Helpful in a Fatal Motorcycle Accident Case?

Evidence in a wrongful death case for a hit-and-run motorcycle case may include:

  • Pictures of the crash site
  • Video surveillance footage
  • Any receipts or expenses associated with the incident
  • Traffic incident reports, medical records, and death certificate
  • Expert witness testimony, such as an accident reconstruction expert
