Fatal Vacaville Crash
I’m Ed Smith, a Vacaville wrongful death lawyer. During the late morning on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, a 74-year-old Vacaville man lost his life after being involved in a multiple-vehicle accident. Our sincere sympathies go out to those affected by this loss.
Crash Details
According to police reports, the collision occurred at around 11:20 a.m. at the intersection of major thoroughfares Marshall Road and Alamo Drive. Officers indicated that a four-door Chevy sedan being driven by an 18-year-old woman from Vacaville had been driving south on Alamo Drive when she collided with the driver’s side of a sports car.
Pictures taken at the scene of the crash show that the sedan received major damage to its front end during the impact. No further information about how the accident occurred has yet been made publicly available.
Injuries
According to police reports, the driver of the sedan was treated for minor injuries and released at the crash scene. The driver of the sports car was discovered with serious traumatic injuries and transported to a hospital for urgent care.
Medical officials indicated that the injured man was not able to recover from his injuries and passed away sometime before 2 p.m., about an hour and a half after the fatal collision. Initially, authorities withheld the name of the deceased individual pending the notification of his family but have since identified him as a local man Anthony Costello.
Investigation
An investigation into the collision is currently being conducted by the Vacaville Police Department (VPD). VPD has not made any statement yet as to whether or not they believe the accident to be caused by DUI. Accident factors that may have been at play include a medical emergency, speeding, driving while distracted, defects in the roadway, faulty vehicle parts, and more.
Another Recent Accident Fatality
This crash is the second fatal accident to occur in the area this week. Fairfield police are currently investigating a collision that happened on Saturday, December 2, 2017, in which a 27-year-old resident of Suisun died after being ejected from his vehicle.
The accident happened at around 1:20 a.m. on Westbound Air Base Parkway and investigators say that, although only one vehicle was found at the crash site, they suspect another vehicle may have been involved in the accident. More about this accident can be read here.
Calling a Lawyer
When dealing with the loss of a friend or family member, it can be difficult to focus on things like legal issues, paperwork, and phone calls. However, calling a lawyer as soon as you are able is an important step in financially recovering for your loss.
Because negligent parties typically don’t go through the same emotional duress that grieving parties do, they are usually quick to turn their attention to disclaiming responsibility and obscuring vital evidence. Having a wrongful death lawyer in Vacaville on your side can help prevent this and ensure that you receive the payments you need.
