Importance of Working with a Wrongful Death Attorney
The time following the sudden loss of a close relative may be challenging and overwhelming. This is especially true if the loss was the result of a motor vehicle collision. Now would be the time that your family should be focused on grieving and recovering from your loss. Instead, you are met with difficult insurance companies looking to take advantage of your family’s vulnerable situation by paying as little as possible on your claim.
The good news is that an experienced Modesto wrongful death attorney may make all the difference in the outcome of your claim. Unlike the insurer, your lawyer will have your family’s goals and best interests at heart throughout the process and will stop at nothing to obtain the financial recovery you all deserve.
Your wrongful death lawyer will conduct an independent investigation into a single-vehicle accident to identify all at-fault parties. That may include identifying hit-and-run drivers, automakers for faulty vehicle components, and government entities for unsafe road design and conditions. Keep in mind that you generally have two years to file in civil court and that deadline may be shortened to six months if the case names a public agency as a defendant.
