One Killed in Triple-Vehicle Accident in Fairfield
A deadly highway accident took place in Fairfield on Saturday, March 7, 2020. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident involved three vehicles and left one person with fatal trauma. The decedent has since been identified by Solano County authorities as Luis Perez Vazquez, a 34-year-old Fairfield resident. A GoFundMe page has been created on behalf of Mr. Perez Vazquez and his family to help cover his funeral costs.
Crash Information
The accident occurred on Highway Interstate 80 at around 8:51 p.m. at the Travis Boulevard junction. Details about how exactly the collision took place are not yet available. Reports indicated that the accident brought traffic to a standstill on both directions of the highway for at least an hour and a half. Police diverted eastbound vehicles at the Travis Boulevard offramp and did not reopen eastbound lanes until around 9:30. Westbound lanes remained closed for several hours, heavily impacting traffic.
Investigation
Authorities have stated that CHP is currently conducting a full investigation into possible causes of this tragic car accident. So far, police haven’t reported any likely causal factors. Collisions involving multiple vehicles are often complex and can be caused by more than one thing.
