Fatal Willows Auto Accident
Three people reportedly lost their lives during a Willows auto accident during the early morning on Friday, August 23, 2019. The crash involved two vehicles and four individuals, one of whom was not injured during the incident. Glenn County Sheriff’s Department officials are reportedly withholding the identities of the decedents while they handle notification of their families. Additionally, the collision remains under investigation by officers of California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Crash Information
CHP indicated that the accident took place at around 12:30 a.m. on Highway Interstate 5 near the exit for Country Road 57. A 42-year-old man had been driving a 209 Ford F550 north on I-5 approaching the exit while a Honda Accord was driving south in the same area. As the vehicles approached each other, the driver of the Honda apparently lost control of their vehicle and veered to the left, eventually crossing over the highway median. The two vehicles crashed head-on. Reports indicated that the force of the collision caused the Honda to split completely in half.
CHP immediately dispatched emergency officials to the crash location after receiving notification. Tragically, when responders arrived, they found that the three women inside the Honda had suffered critical injuries during the crash. All three women reportedly passed away on-scene. The driver of the Ford was discovered without any serious physical trauma.
Investigation
While CHP is looking into possible causes of this accident, officers have not mentioned any suspected factors. Collisions like this one can be caused by many different factors which often involve things like vehicle part defects, dangerous hazards in the road, and more.
