Two Injured in Fiery Boat Accident
Reports from local officials stated that two people were injured during a fiery boat accident that took place on Folsom Lake on Friday, August 23, 2019. According to the South Placer Fire District, an additional person was on the boat at the time of the incident but did not suffer any injuries. While the two injured individuals were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, specific details on the severity of their injuries were not reported. This incident remains under investigation.
Accident Information
Officials stated that a family of four enjoying a day on the lake noticed that another nearby boat was on fire at around 4:45 p.m. The accident witnesses reported seeing a man hanging off of the back of the boat as well as a woman floating nearby. The family reportedly drove their boat over to the burning vessel in an attempt to extinguish the fire with an emergency extinguisher. However, they were not able to approach the burning boat because of the intensity of the fire. Additionally, an accident witness on a jet ski also attempted to put out the fire by splashing water but was unable to help.
Eventually, a family from Rocklin gave local firefighters a ride out to the burning boat. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze using a mobile pump as well as carry all three passengers of the burning boat to safety. Reports indicated that the boat was a total loss, but that officials considered their response as a success because they were able to keep the fire from spreading to dry vegetation nearby.
Burn Injuries
Burn injuries can be extremely painful, and the recovery process is often both extended and painful. Many burn injury survivors need to receive surgeries and/or skin grafts and may also need to go through physical therapy in order to regain their health. It’s also common for burn survivors to suffer mental trauma as well, which may require treatment as well. All of this can be very difficult to cope with, especially because medical costs can be very steep, and many burn injury survivors are unable to continue working either temporarily or permanently.
In order to be able to afford the medical procedures they need and to have stable finances while they recover, those who’ve been injured in accidents like this one are often able to claim payments through personal injury claims. These claims attempt to hold insurers and negligent parties responsible for the damages caused by accidents. In many cases, negligent parties such as the manufacturers of dangerous vehicle parts can be held responsible for the full amount of damages that people have suffered including lost income, personal trauma, medical bills, and more.
