Bonus Christmas Dog Biscuit Recipe
Since many of us are baking holiday treats anyway, why not add in a simple recipe for homemade dog biscuits? The recipe below is for Peanut Butter Dog Treats, and if humans in the household are tempted and want to take a bite, that’s perfectly okay too.
Ingredients
- 2.5 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup natural peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup of water
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 egg
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Combine the flour, baking powder, and egg in a large mixing bowl. Once combined, add in peanut butter, honey, and water. Stir the mixture until it becomes a thick dough. It will be very sticky, so you may need to use the paddle attachment of your mixer or your hands.
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut out shapes with cookie cutters (doggie or bone-shaped would be perfect) and place them on a cookie sheet that you have lined with parchment paper. The biscuits will rise and spread very little while baking. Bake until golden, about 20 minutes. Store the biscuits in an airtight container. These are also great to give as gifts to your dog-loving friends.
