Folsom Hoverboard Fire
I’m Ed Smith. I am a Folsom Personal Injury Lawyer. A hoverboard manufactured by Smart Balance Wheel exploded into flames on January 2, 2016. The fire caused approximately $5,000 in property damage to the family home. Folsom Fire Department responded to a call for help on Palomino Court in Folsom. They entered the home and discovered a burning hoverboard in the carpeted hallway.
Fire Extinguished
After the fire was put out, investigators noted that the hoverboard was plugged into the wall being charged at the time of the fire. This is the first Folsom Hoverboard fire according to the fire department.
Dangers of Hoverboards
The homeowner would like word to get out about the dangers of hoverboards. He said the hoverboard had been charging for about 45 minutes. He and his kids left the residence. The wife stayed home. She reported hearing popping and hissing noises a short time later. Then came an explosion and fire. Homeowner said fragments of battery from the device flew about 15 feet. Some of the burning fragments hit his wife. Fortunately, she was not seriously injured. She escaped the flames by running to her neighbors home.

Folsom Product Liability Lawyer and Personal Injury Attorney
We hope this will be the only Folsom Hoverboard fire that we see this year. Only a seasoned product defect and liability attorney with knowledge of this area of accident law can help injured victims recover compensation. A trained product defect lawyer will bring a claim against the manufacturer of the defective product.
Compensation for Damages May be Possible
If you or someone you love was injured as a result of a faulty hoverboard, you should seek the assistance of an experienced accident attorney to recover compensation for medical expenses, property damage, lost wages, pain and suffering, lost future wages, and in some cases even punitive damages.
