About Morton Golf Foundation
The Morton Golf Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 2010. Its mission is to help supplement deserving programs in the Sacramento area that offer golf to underprivileged people.
The Foundation soon realized that several needy kids in The First Tee of Greater Sacramento (TFTGS) Programs did not have the resources to take golf lessons, buy equipment, or pay to attend local competitions. The programs were beginning to turn out many talented youth golfers each year who could use funds for college. After forming a solid Board of Directors, the Morton Golf Foundation started generating funds to enrich the lives of these less fortunate youth through the great game of golf.
In the first five years since the Foundation was formed, it has given almost $500,000 to numerous programs such as:
- American Heart Saving Strokes Program
- Boys and Girls Clubs
- Society for the Blind
- Center for Fathers and Families
- Northern California Minority Jr. Golf Scholarship Association
- Latino Jr. Golf Program
- Special Olympics Program
- Rocklin Little Thunder Jr. Golf Programs
MGF has also given financial support and college scholarships to local youth golfers in need. Funds come from special events, memorials, and local donations. MGF’s primary fundraiser is the Golf & Guitars Celebrity-Am Tournament and Concert Event, jointly with KNCI Radio each year. The Foundation continues to help better the lives of hundreds of needy children throughout the Sacramento region every year.
