Great Woodland Community Events
Community Events in Great Woodland

At a population of about 55,200, Woodland is the second-largest city in all of Yolo County and provides many a place to call home in the Northern California’s agricultural center. Although residents of Woodland can easily travel to the nearby metropolis of Sacramento in order to seek entertainment, Woodland has plenty of great local events to offer its residents. A few upcoming Woodland community events are described in this blog.

It’s a Wonderful Life Musical

From November 24, 2017, until December 17, 2017, the Woodland Opera House is hosting a musical theater performance based on the classic American holiday movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life.” The show takes the beloved 1946 film and gives it a cinematic score and theatrical staging that is sure to delight those for whom the movie is a treasured classic as well as those who may have never seen it.

The musical is showing on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. as well as on Sundays at 2:00 p.m. at 340 2nd St in Woodland.

53rd Annual Woodland Holiday Parade

The 2017 Woodland Holiday Parade will be taking place on December 7 from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Presented by the Woodland Chamber of Commerce and taking place in Downtown Woodland, the parade will include marching bands and numerous floats built by local organizations and businesses.

This year’s parade theme is “Winter Wonderland” and awards will be given to parade participants who best capture the theme’s spirit. Awards will be given in several categories including awards for local scouting troops, decorated cars, historical floats, and more.

Santa Sunday

On December 10, 2017, the Yolo County Historical Museum at the Gibson House will be hosting the eleventh annual “Santa Sunday.” Locals are invited to come enjoy the atmosphere of the beautiful historic house, participate in kid-friendly holiday crafts that children will be able to take home, and, of course, meet Santa Claus himself.

A ten-dollar admission fee for one child and an additional five dollars per child for larger families is good for admission to both the craft-making and photographs with Santa. The event will also include a bake sale and plant sale with an amazing plant selection from the local Gibson House gardeners.

Holiday Affair Vendor and Craft Show

On Saturday, December 16, 2017, Phs Cheer Boosters will be presenting the Holiday Affair event. The show will feature vendors and craft makers with a wide variety of boutique wares including Damsel in Defense, Lipsense, Dot Dot Smile, Scentsy, and many more.

The event will take place at Pioneer High School, begins at 10:00 a.m., and will continue until 3:00 p.m.
