Interstate 5 Near SR 20 Site of Head-On Crash
A head-on crash was reported in Williams on February 9 when one driver’s vehicle crossed over from the southbound side into the northbound lanes. The accident happened along northbound I-5 just south of the State Route 20 off-ramp at around 11:28 a.m., causing major injuries to at least one person. The accident involved a Toyota 4Runner and Toyota pickup, according to the report of the incident issued by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Accident Blocks Northbound Lanes
Officers reported that the accident blocked the northbound lanes, and vehicles were using the center divider to get around the crash. Both vehicles involved in the collision sustained major front-end damage. The accident caused the area around the crash to be shut down to traffic, which was diverted off at Husted Road. The lanes reopened around 12:55 p.m. The major injury accident is under investigation by the CHP.
Head-On Crashes Caused by Negligence
Head-on collisions are one of the most devastating types of crashes and often result in serious injuries or even death. They are typically caused by negligence, such as driving while impaired or distracted, speeding or failing to obey traffic laws. When a head-on collision occurs due to another driver’s irresponsible behavior, they can be held liable for damages. Some of the most common types of damages resulting from a negligent driver who causes a head-on collision include medical bills, lost wages due to time spent recovering and pain and suffering.
Filing an Injury Claim Before the Statute of Limitations Expires
It is important that those involved in a head-on collision caused by negligence take legal action to hold the responsible party accountable. By filing a personal injury claim, injured parties can seek compensation for all of their damages. Additionally, it is important to remember that the statute of limitations in California requires claims to be filed within two years; if this deadline passes without action, the injured person may not be eligible to receive any compensation.
The Importance of Seeking Legal Counsel

An experienced personal injury attorney will be able to help you understand your rights and fight for the compensation you deserve.
