Accident at Walerga Road Intersection Involves Three Vehicles and Pedestrian

A hit-and-run with reported injuries occurred in North Highlands on December 13 in a three-vehicle collision that involved a pedestrian. The crash occurred around 5:25 p.m. at the intersection of Walerga Road and Galbrath Drive. The police report issued by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated that it involved a Toyota and Lexus and another unknown vehicle as well as someone on foot.

Driver Sought in Hit-and-Run Collision

Medics with the fire department were called to the scene to assess injuries to the pedestrian. However, it is unknown whether their patient was transported to a nearby hospital or treated at the scene. The unidentified vehicle fled the scene following the collision. An investigation is underway to determine how the accident occurred and to locate the hit-and-run driver.

Car Accidents Involving a Pedestrian Injury

Car accidents often result in serious injuries or fatalities. However, when vehicles collide and are pushed by the impact, a pedestrian can often find themself injured as well. An injury lawyer can examine the accident to find out whether one or both drivers are at fault for the crash. In this way, the injured pedestrian can place a claim to recover all of their medical expenses caused by the accident, lost wages if they are unable to work and compensation for their pain and suffering.

Do I Have to Pay My Attorney Right Away?

No. Personal injury lawyers work on a contingency basis. What this means is that they investigate the hit-and-run collision, gather together all your medical costs and factor in your losses to compile a compensation claim and represent you either with the at-fault driver’s insurance company or in civil court if negotiations are unsuccessful. The injured party pays nothing until the case is won. In addition, settlements when handled by an injury lawyer, are often much higher than if an injured party tries to negotiate alone.

Locating the Hit-and-Run Driver

We’ve had many successes in locating a hit-and-run collision driver. Some of the methods we use include:

  • Although the accident report filed by the responding police provides evidence, it has to be checked for accuracy because errors can affect the client’s ability to file a claim.
  • Accident reconstruction is performed, which often points toward which driver/drivers are at fault.
  • Witnesses are interviewed. Some may remember part of the license plate number or be able to identify the make and model of the vehicle. Others may be able to describe the driver or used their cell phone to capture the accident as it happened.
  • The investigators take photos at the scene of the hit-and-run collision and search for paint smears and dropped pieces of metal from the vehicle/vehicles. Paint and metal pieces can be used to identify the make and model of the car being driven by the motorist that fled.
  • Traffic and business surveillance cameras in the area are examined to see if the hit-and-run collision was captured as it happened. If it was, the record can be subpoenaed to use with the insurance company or in civil court.

Once all the evidence has been compiled, our team of injury lawyers use it in building a strong case that supports our client’s claim.
