A hit-and-run crash occurred in Gold River, northeast of Rancho Cordova, on October 6 that left people injured. The collision occurred around 12:45 p.m. along westbound U.S. 50 just east of the Sunrise Boulevard off-ramp. The police report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated that the accident involved two Teslas and a Toyota Corolla.
One Driver Reportedly Driving Recklessly Before Hit-and-Run Crash
It was alleged that the individual handling the Toyota was driving recklessly before the hit-and-run crash happened. Sacramento Fire Department medics determined that injuries had occurred in the collision. Debris was left in the roadway because of the crash. The incident is being investigated by the CHP to find out how the accident happened and are seeking the fleeing driver.
Hit-and-Run Drivers Can Cause Serious Injuries
When an accident occurs and the at-fault driver leaves the accident site, this is considered a hit-and-run. These types of accidents often result in injuries to the occupants, which can be severe. If you’ve been involved in a hit-and-run crash, it’s important to know that you have legal options.
Finding the Responsible Party in a Hit-and-Run Crash
An experienced personal injury attorney will investigate your case and work to locate the at-fault driver. This is not always an easy task, but there are a number of ways that an investigator can go about finding the responsible party. One way to locate a hit-and-run driver is to check for surveillance footage from nearby businesses or homes. Many times, someone has captured footage of the accident on their security camera. This footage can be invaluable in identifying the at-fault driver.
Another way to find a hit-and-run driver is to check for eyewitnesses. If there are people who saw the accident, they may be able to provide information that can help identify the driver. Checking the police report can add information on the fleeing driver to help locate them.
If you’ve been involved in a hit-and-run crash, don’t hesitate to contact a personal injury attorney. They will investigate your case and work tirelessly to find the responsible party so that you can get the compensation you deserve.
Using Insurance to Pay for Your Accident Injuries in a Hit-and-Run Crash
If you are involved in a crash where the other driver is at fault and does not have insurance, or does not have enough to cover your injuries, you may be able to use your own uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM/UIM) coverage to pay for your accident-related expenses. In order to make a claim under your UM/UIM policy, you will need to prove that the other driver was at fault for the accident and that they did not have enough insurance to cover your damages.
This can sometimes be difficult to do, so it is important to work with an accident attorney who can help you gather the necessary evidence and build a strong case. If you don’t carry a UM/UIM policy and a family member does, theirs can be used. It will not affect their insurance rates in the future.
