Collecting Compensation Following a Two-Vehicle Crash

When a negligent driver is responsible for a two-vehicle crash, the injured parties may want to think about filing a claim for compensation. Areas where damages can be recovered, include:

  • All of the medical expenses associated with the accident are recoverable. From the ambulance fees to hospitalization, medical tests, surgeries, prescriptions and rehabilitation to out-of-pocket expenses, all of these can be claimed.
  • Lost wages because the injured party could not work can be recovered. The term lost wages includes any bonuses, pension benefits, insurance and other perks of the job.
  • Loss of consortium, the care, and affection of the spouse is recoverable.
  • Loss of guidance and nurturing of the family’s children can be claimed.
  • Pain and suffering are non-economic damages, which can be recovered. They may include reimbursement for both the physical pain and psychological and emotional trauma the accident caused. Your injury attorney can explain to you what these areas encompass.
