Florin Road Hit-and-Run Reported Near Eagles Nest Road
A Florin Road hit-and-run occurred near Rancho Cordova on November 17, where the driver said she thought she had struck a deer, so she left the scene. The accident occurred between Eagles Nest and Excelsior roads around 7:00 a.m. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reportedly received a call from an individual who said his wife had been driving the previous evening and struck what she thought was a deer. The accident is under investigation by the CHP traffic collision unit.
Florin Road Hit-and-Run and Striking Something in Your Vehicle
Under California law, drivers must stop when they strike something in their vehicle. Otherwise, the driver could be charged with hit-and-run. The driver should pull over to the right-hand shoulder and call the local police or the CHP to report the accident. If it happens to be a deer or other animal you struck, you are still required to pull over and contact authorities or the humane society, according to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
How to Recover Compensation After a Death
It is difficult for a family to lose a loved one in a Florin Road hit-and-run, and it is even harder when the pedestrian fatality should not have occurred. Family members of this type of loss are left grieving as well as wondering how and why it happened. Family members of pedestrians who die in accidents may be able to recover damages by bringing a wrongful death suit against the negligent party. Their pain may not be eased by it, but they can move forward knowing that they obtained justice for their loved one.
An Attorney’s Role in Searching for a Hit-and-Run Driver
Families of deceased pedestrians who died in a Florin Road hit-and-run may feel overwhelmed and unsure of what to do after a hit-and-run accident. Obtaining compensation for your injuries can be difficult without the help of a personal injury attorney experienced in investigating accidents and locating responsible drivers.
To determine who the hit-and-run driver is, your attorney will likely investigate the accident to identify any witnesses or surveillance footage that may be able to provide some insight. In the process, this step is crucial. A fair settlement will be negotiated with the driver’s insurance after your attorney locates the motorist.
In a Wrongful Death Case, What Can Be Recovered?
As part of a California wrongful death claim, the survivors may be entitled to recover damages for the following:
- Fees for funerals and burials

- Compensation for the absence of moral support, love, care, comfort, and companionship
- The loss of a spouse’s consortium
- Inheritance loss
- Household tasks the deceased would have performed, such as lawn care, cooking, cleaning and tax filing
- Children can claim the loss of nurturing that would have been provided by the deceased
