Accident on I-80 Near Blue Canyon Road Involves Two Big Vehicles
An injury accident between a semi and an Amazon delivery truck occurred in Gold Run near Auburn on October 19. The crash was reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) around 6:53 a.m. along westbound I-80 just west of the Blue Canyon Road off-ramp. When they arrived at the accident scene, officers discovered the semi on the right-hand side of the road and the delivery truck in the fast lane.
At Least One Person Was Injured in Semi and Delivery Van Crash
The Amazon truck driver reportedly suffered a head injury in the collision and was lying on the ground. Officials with the fire department said they had air transport on order. The Ram 3500 Amazon van was towed as evidence of the crash. The semi involved was pulling a 53-foot box trailer and fully loaded, weighing around 80,000 pounds.
Interstate Closed Down for More Than an Hour Due to Injury Accident
The last axle of the trailer had been damaged and ripped off. The interstate heading west was shut down while the site was cleared and injuries were attended to. One of the westbound lanes was reopened to traffic around 8:07 p.m.
