Causes of Chest Pain Following a Traffic Accident
Chest pain can have several reasons following a Diamond Springs multiple-vehicle collision. However, anyone suffering chest pain after an accident should have it checked by a physician to rule out anything serious. The most common causes are the following:
- Airbags: Deployed airbags in a collision often cause pain for the first day or two due to the force.
- Blunt force trauma: Blunt force trauma can occur when someone in a vehicle crashes into the steering wheel or dash. These injuries may include broken bones, severe bruising, or other trauma.
- Fractured sternum or ribs: Fractures to the bones in the chest can take more than a month to heal and cause pain, trouble breathing, and other symptoms.
- Bruises: Serious bruises can cause pain and take weeks to completely heal.
- Organ injury: Blood vessels, lungs, heart, liver, or even the spleen may be injured and present as a chest injury.
Covering Financial Losses Due to a Serious Injury
A serious injury often requires hospitalization and even surgery. Medical bills can mount quickly, causing concern, especially if the injured person has no insurance or is underinsured. With the help of an accident lawyer, the injured party can file a personal injury claim to recover those losses if a negligent driver was the cause of the Diamond Springs multiple-vehicle collision.
An accident lawyer reviews the case and collects the evidence to support the client’s claim against the at-fault parties. Once the evidence is collected, such as surveillance camera videos, witness accounts, accident reconstruction, and others, the lawyers use it to frame a strong compensation case. The lawyer then negotiates with the at-fault party’s insurance company on the client’s behalf to reach a fair settlement. If the insurance company does not agree, then the lawyer can take the case to civil court using that evidence to obtain compensation.
